IN THE EVENT OF EMERGENCY
What to do in the event of - POWER FAILURE?
If it is a general power failure in the street, please call Energy Australia (24 hrs) on 131 388.
If the electrical outage is restricted to your unit, check to ensure that the circuit breakers have not tripped, or fuses blown. If circuit breakers and fuses are intact, yet the power is still out, please call the electrician(s) nominated on the Emergency Contacts List.
What to do in the event of - DISRUPTION of WATER SUPPLY?
Disruption of water supply can occur when Sydney Water is carrying out work on the street pipes and has temporarily shut down the supply. Alternatively a plumber may be working in the building. Usually, residents are informed of any such works, however, if the water supply has been disrupted for other reasons, please contact the plumber nominated on the Emergency Contacts List.
What to do in the event of - BURST WATER PIPE?
A burst pipe can be identified by visible dampness, wet carpet or bubbling paint on a wall or floor which is usually adjacent to a bathroom, kitchen or laundry. If this is the case, locate and turn off the main stop valve in your apartment and call the plumber nominated on the Emergency Contacts List.
If water is dripping from the ceiling, check with the upstairs neighbour to ensure that their washing machine, dishwasher or hot water tank is not leaking. If the leak has been caused by an appliance, hot water tank or negligence, it is the individual resident’s responsibility to rectify the problem at their own cost.
Remember, quick detection and rapid repair will minimize damage, inconvenience and wasted water.
What to do in the event of - SEWER SURCHARGE?
A sewer surcharge is when raw sewerage begins overflowing from a toilet or floor waste in your bathroom, kitchen, laundry or low level vent pipes on the ground floor.
In this situation, immediately call the plumber nominated on the Emergency Contacts List.
What to do in the event of - DISRUPTION OF GAS SUPPLY?
Gas supply failure may be attributed to the appliance(s) you may be using – usually gas heaters. Domestic appliances are not considered common property and are the responsibility of the owner/occupant. If the disruption to the gas supply cannot be identified, please call the plumber/gasfitter nominated on the Emergency Contacts List.
What to do in the event of - LIFT OUTAGE?
Call the lift maintenance company whose name is usually displayed on the control panel inside the lift car.
What to do in the event of - GARAGE DOOR FAILURE?
To avoid unnecessary callouts and expenses, please ensure that your door remote controller is working and that the batteries are not flat.
If your door remote controller is working, but the garage door will not open or close, please contact the maintenance company as displayed on the motor unit or the garage door itself.
What to do in the event of - DAMAGE TO ENTRY DOOR OR WINDOW?
If the entry door to your apartment or a window is damaged as a result of a break-in or is vandalised to the extent that the security of your property is compromised, please call the Emergency Building Repairs contractor nominated on the Emergency Contacts List.
Please report the incident to the Local Police and forward the Event Number to our office at your earliest convenience.
What to do in the event of - VANDALISM AND MALICIOUS DAMAGE?
Please report the incident to the Local Police and forward the Event Number to our office at your earliest convenience.
What to do in the event of - FIRE?
In the event of a fire, immediately call the NSW Fire Brigade.
After the fire has been extinguished please call the appropriate tradesperson as nominated on the Emergency Contacts List.
What to do in the event of - STORM DAMAGE?
If your building has sustained damage as a result of a storm or a tree has fallen on your power lines, call the SES and/or Energy Australia on the Emergency number provided on the Emergency Contacts List.
